Film locations in L-Għarb

L-Għarb is a hilltop village in western Gozo, known for its Baroque Basilica of the Visitation. From series two onwards it replaced Sannat as Sainte Victoire, the French village in The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

Għarb (the name means 'west') is one of Gozo's prettiest villages. Old limestone houses with carved balconies cluster around a small square in front of the Basilica of the Visitation, a Baroque church with a curved façade. From series two of The Madame Blanc Mysteries the production moved its fictional village of Sainte Victoire here, dressing the square with French signs and cars. La Couronne, the bar where the characters gather, is a dressed building on the square, and a private house opposite plays the police station. The village sits on the way to Ta' Pinu Basilica, Wied il-Mielaħ and Dwejra, so it's an easy stop on a west-Gozo day. Route 312 from Victoria runs a loop through Għarb.
