Where was Das Boot filmed in Malta?

Sky's follow-up to the 1981 film used Malta in all four seasons. The Kalkara water tanks and the open sea around the islands handled submarine and ocean scenes. For season three (shot in 2021) the production stayed for about 120 days. It filmed in Valletta, Mdina, Fort Ricasoli, San Anton Gardens, the AFM barracks and spots around Kalkara, Marsa, Paola and Mellieħa, with Malta supplying interiors for scenes set in Lisbon and Liverpool. Season four went back to Kalkara, Marsa and Kordin.

Malta Film Studios in Kalkara has huge seaside water tanks that blend into the real horizon. Sense8 shot its 2016 Christmas special opening here, and Sky's Das Boot used them for submarine scenes.
