St George's Square, the open square in front of the Grandmaster's Palace in Valletta, is where the stunt team filmed raptors chasing Owen Grady through the city for Jurassic World Dominion in late summer 2020.

    Owen Grady bursts into the square on a motorbike to find it overrun with escaped dinosaurs and dodges raptors across the open paving in front of the Grandmaster's Palace. It played Valletta (Malta plays itself).

About St George's Square

St George's Square is Valletta's main civic square, framed by the long façade of the Grandmaster's Palace on one side and the Main Guard building on the other, with jets of water that rise straight out of the paving. In Jurassic World Dominion it is the climax of the Malta chase: Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) bursts into the square on a motorbike and finds it overrun with dinosaurs, dodging raptors among fleeing crowds. Because the lead actors couldn't travel during the pandemic, stunt doubles rode the square for real and the stars were added later using lidar scans of the streets. The film's tourism push even placed a life-size raptor model in the square after release. Today the square is pedestrian, busy with café tables, events and changing-of-the-guard re-enactments, and it is free to walk through at any hour.

Early morning before the café tables and crowds fill the square, or late evening when the palace façade is lit.

Where was the Jurassic World Dominion dinosaur chase filmed in Malta?+

Mostly in Valletta: the chase runs through St Ursula and St Nicholas streets and ends in St George's Square in front of the Grandmaster's Palace, with Owen then racing through Victoria Gate.

Did Chris Pratt actually film in Valletta?+

No. Because of 2020 pandemic travel limits, stunt doubles shot in Malta and the streets were lidar-scanned so Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard could be added in later.
