About Għarb Village Square

Għarb's small square is dominated by the Basilica of the Visitation, finished in 1729, with a curved Baroque façade inspired by Borromini. Around it are traditional Gozitan houses with stone balconies and a former folklore museum. When The Madame Blanc Mysteries left Sannat after series one, Għarb became the new Sainte Victoire. La Couronne bar was created in the old folklore museum building beside the church, a private house opposite plays the police station, and the square hosts the village's bus stop, fêtes and crime scenes. During filming the crew adds French shop signs, café tables and cars, so between shoots you see the real village. Please respect the residents: the 'police station' and other houses are people's homes.

Best time to go

Morning, when the sun lights the basilica façade; quiet weekdays outside festa season (Visitation feast in early July).
