Xlendi Bay is a narrow, cliff-lined inlet on Gozo's southwest coast. The Madame Blanc Mysteries reportedly filmed boat scenes in the bay, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) used the clifftops above it.

About Xlendi Bay

Xlendi is a deep inlet carved into the limestone at the end of a long valley. A tiny beach and promenade sit at its head, ringed by cafés, with tall cliffs on both sides and the 1650 Xlendi Tower guarding the mouth. Rock-cut steps and paths lead up the southern side for views straight out to the open sea. Gozo location guides say The Madame Blanc Mysteries shot boat scenes here in series two, episode three, and filmed Jeremy's departure on his cabin cruiser around the seafront. They also say The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen used the clifftops, where only sea fills the horizon, for Quatermain and Tom Sawyer's shooting practice on the Nautilus's conning tower. Today it's a popular swim and dive spot.

Can you swim at Xlendi Bay?+

Yes. There's a small sandy beach at the head of the bay, plus swimming ladders and rocks along the sides. It's a well-known dive site too.

How do I get to Xlendi from Victoria?+

Bus 306 runs from Victoria bus terminus to Xlendi in about 10–15 minutes.
