Munich filming locations in Malta

Steven Spielberg's Munich (2005) used Malta to stand in for Tel Aviv, Rome, Beirut, Athens and Cyprus, filming at Sliema's Tower Road, Valletta's Republic Square, Rabat's St Paul's Square, Cospicua's docks and Bugibba.

Where was Munich filmed in Malta?

Spielberg's Mossad thriller is one of the best examples of Malta doubling for half the Mediterranean. Sliema's Tower Road promenade became the seafront of 'Tel Aviv', the café terrace in Republic Square in Valletta and the square in front of St Paul's Church in Rabat both played 'Rome', the old dock at Cospicua became the 'Beirut' dockside, and the British Hotel on Battery Street in Valletta was the 'Aristides Hotel' in 'Athens'. A Bugibba hotel stood in for the Olympic Hotel in 'Cyprus'. Many interiors were shot in private homes around the island.
