About St Paul's Square, Rabat

Rabat's parish square opens in front of the collegiate church of St Paul, built over the grotto where, by tradition, the apostle Paul lived after his shipwreck on Malta in AD 60. The church and its square sit a few minutes' walk from Mdina's walls, and the catacombs of St Paul and St Agatha are close by. In Munich, Spielberg dressed the square as a piazza in 'Rome': after the team's first killing, the agents meet at an outdoor café here, with Clara arriving at the rendezvous to celebrate with Avner (Eric Bana). The church façade and stone houses give a convincing Italian look. Today the square is a quiet local spot with a couple of cafés and pastizzi shops; the church and St Paul's Grotto underneath can be visited.

Best time to go

Morning, combined with a visit to Mdina and the nearby catacombs.
