World War Z filming locations in Malta
World War Z, Marc Forster's 2013 zombie thriller starring Brad Pitt, filmed its 'Jerusalem' sequence in Malta in summer 2011, using Valletta, Floriana's Pinto Wharf, Fort St Elmo and Malta International Airport.
Where was World War Z filmed in Malta?
Principal photography on World War Z began in Malta in July 2011. Valletta and the surrounding harbour area played walled 'Jerusalem': the refugee checkpoint was staged on the Marsa wharves, trucks rumbled along the road under the overhead walkways at Pinto Wharf, and the moment the zombies pour over the wall into a crowded courtyard was shot inside Fort St Elmo. Malta International Airport at Luqa stood in for the Jerusalem airport where Gerry Lane escapes by plane. Aerial destruction shots take in Valletta's Triton Fountain.
