About Basilica of St Dominic

The Dominican Basilica of Our Lady of Porto Salvo and St Dominic stands at the junction of Merchants Street and St Dominic Street in Valletta. It is one of Valletta's main parish churches, run by the Dominican friars. In Assassin's Creed, the rooftop parkour chase that starts in the sand-covered Merchants Street climbs over Valletta's roofs and ends with a fight on the roof of the basilica, playing a church in 15th-century Seville. The roof itself is not accessible, but the church is open to visitors for prayer and at service times, and its domed bulk is easy to pick out from the surrounding streets. A guide also notes the filming used the corridor between the Grandmaster's Palace and the National Library for a church scene.

Best time to go

A quiet weekday morning, when you can step inside between services.
