About Sannat Village Square
Sannat's square is a quiet village centre in front of the parish church of St Margaret, lined with limestone houses and a village club. Creator Sally Lindsay picked it as soon as she saw it: 'Sannat, the square, I just fell in love with it.' For series one the production closed the square, drove cars on the right-hand side and added French signage and vehicles. The building to the left of the church became La Couronne bar, the police station sat on the same side, and the church was the backdrop for a murder and Jean's first vide-grenier. Fan guides say building works later pushed the show to move to Għarb, so you won't see any set dressing now. The Ta' Ċenċ cliffs, where Dom, Jean and Fleur go riding in episode one, are a short walk south.
Best time to go
Late afternoon, when the church façade catches the light and the village is calm; combine with sunset on the Ta' Ċenċ cliffs.
