Gozo film locations

Film crews come to Gozo for its coast and its villages. Madame Blanc's French village is here, and so was the Dothraki wedding. This route starts at the ferry in Mġarr and goes round the island. You'll need a car, or a full day on the buses.

    The far west coast.

    • Game of Thrones: The Dothraki wedding of Daenerys and Khal Drogo was filmed at Dwejra with the Azure Window as backdrop. Sand made from crushed hardstone (quarry waste) spread over the protected fossil-rich site, and a subcontractor's heavy-machinery clean-up, damaged it and caused a row with MEPA in late 2010
    • Clash of the Titans: The Azure Window appears in Perseus's battle against the Kraken
    • The Count of Monte Cristo: The Azure Window appears in the scenes set on the island of Montecristo
    • Two Weeks in August: Cliffside scenes filmed around Dwejra Bay

Is the Azure Window still there?+

No. It collapsed in a storm in March 2017. The Dwejra coastline from the Game of Thrones wedding is still there.
