Rabat, the town just outside Mdina's walls, gave Game of Thrones season 1 its Red Keep garden at the Dominican priory, and its wild western cliffs at Mtaħleb hosted the Dothraki camp and Khal Drogo's funeral pyre in 2010.
Rabat is the busy old town that grew up outside Mdina's walls, famous for St Paul's Catacombs, its parish church and pastizzi shops. For Game of Thrones fans it matters for two very different places. In the south of the town, the 15th-century Dominican priory above the Madonna tal-Għar grotto lent its cloister garden to the Red Keep, where Ned Stark and Cersei have their famous talk in episode 7. Out west, Rabat's territory runs all the way to the sea at Mtaħleb and Miġra l-Ferħa, where tall, empty clifftops became the Dothraki camp in the last two episodes of season 1. The priory is an easy bus ride from Valletta; the cliffs really need a car or taxi.
