About Eagle Street, Valletta

Eagle Street is one of Valletta's shortest streets: a narrow flight of stone steps in the Baviera quarter, dropping from Old Bakery Street (Triq il-Fran) down to Triq il-Gendus on the Marsamxett side of the city. Tall limestone houses and closed wooden balconies make it feel like a back alley of King's Landing, and that's exactly how it was used. In episode 9, Arya, living rough after escaping the Red Keep, catches a pigeon and tries to trade it for bread with a baker, before the bells ring and she follows the crowd to the Great Sept of Baelor, where she witnesses Ned's execution (filmed at Fort Manoel). Very little dressing was needed and the lane looks almost the same today. It's a residential street, so be quick and quiet with photos.

Best time to go

Early morning, before deliveries and with soft light in the narrow lane.
