About St Ursula Street

St Ursula Street runs the length of Valletta's eastern side, from the harbour end near Victoria Gate up towards the centre, a narrow canyon of tall limestone houses with closed wooden balconies; parallel St Nicholas Street has the same look. In Jurassic World Dominion these streets carry the vehicle chase through Valletta, with trucks and dinosaurs squeezing between the balconies before the action spills into St George's Square. At the harbour end, the British Hotel on Battery Street, one of Valletta's oldest hotels, was the 'Aristides Hotel' in 'Athens' in Steven Spielberg's Munich, where the Mossad team's bomb hidden in a TV set fails to go off. Today both streets are residential with small bars and guesthouses; parts of them are stepped, so walk rather than drive.

Best time to go

Morning, when the low sun lights the balconies and the streets are quiet.
