About Collegiate Church of St Lawrence
St Lawrence is Birgu's parish church, standing at the head of Dockyard Creek on the Grand Harbour, close to the marina and the Maritime Museum. The present Baroque building was designed by Lorenzo Gafà in the late 17th century, and it served as the Order of St John's conventual church before the knights moved to Valletta. In Jurassic World Dominion, after the raid on the illegal dinosaur market hidden under Birgu, Claire Dearing escapes by running across the church roof while being chased by raptors, the creek and Senglea's bastions behind her. The roof is not accessible, but the church is open for visitors and services, and the waterfront in front of it is one of the nicest walks in the Three Cities. Fort St Angelo, which also features in the film, is just along the quay.
