About Victoria Gate
Victoria Gate is the lower gateway of Valletta, opening from the city down to the Grand Harbour waterfront. Designed by Maltese architect Emanuele Luigi Galizia and opened in 1885, it replaced the older Del Monte Gate and is named after Queen Victoria; its harbour face carries the royal coat of arms. In Jurassic World Dominion it marks the end of the Valletta chase: Owen Grady races through the arch, heading for the airstrip to catch up with Claire, with dinosaurs still on his tail. Today the gate is a working road arch with traffic and pedestrians passing through, and it sits a few steps above the Baroque church of Our Lady of Liesse, which also features in the film. It is a natural stop on a walk from the city down to the Three Cities ferry.
Best time to go
Morning, when the sun lights the harbour face of the gate.
