About Valletta Ditch (City Gate bridge)
Valletta's landward walls are fronted by a deep dry ditch cut into the rock by the Knights in the 1560s. The bridges at City Gate cross it, and from them you look straight down into the ditch and along the bastions. Assassin's Creed used the ditch and its bridges for the brief 15th-century battle Cal sees the first time he is connected to the Animus. The ditch has gardens and a service road and is partly open to walkers.
Best time to go
Morning, when the sun lights the bastion walls.
